INTRODUCTION: Statins have significantly reduced mortality from cardiovascular diseases by lowering serum cholesterol levels. Beyond their lipid-lowering effects, statins improve vascular function, reduce inflammation, decrease reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, and stabilize atherosclerotic plaques.
