The Ebola and the Marburg viruses belong to the Filoviridae family, a group of filamentous, single-stranded, negative-sensed RNA viruses. Upon infection, uncontrolled propagation of the Ebola and the Marburg viruses causes severe hemorrhagic fevers with high mortality rates.
