Aging affects all organs. Arteries, in particular, are among the most affected. Vascular aging (VA) is defined as age-associated changes in function and structure of vessels. Classical VA phenotypes are carotid intima-media thickness (IMT), carotid plaque (CP), and arterial stiffness (STIFF).
