Primary myelofibrosis (PMF) is classified as a clonal myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) characterized by bone marrow fibrosis and subsequent extramedullary hematopoiesis that causes progressive anemia, symptomatic splenomegaly, and various constitutional symptoms and eventual transformation into acute leukemia.
