The assembly of the enzyme-activated factor IX (FIXa) with its cofactor, activated factor VIII (FVIIIa) is a crucial event in the coagulation cascade. The absence or dysfunction of either enzyme or cofactor severely compromises hemostasis and causes hemophilia.
