The enzyme nicotidamide-N-methyltransferase (NNMT) regulates adipose tissue energy expenditure through increasing nicotinamide adenosine dinucleotide (NAD+) content. NNMT methylates nicotinamide to N1-methylnicotidamide (MNA-1) using S-adenosyl methionine.
