Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a heterogeneous immunologic disorder. Vitamin D has immune-modulatory effects. The pleiotropic effects of vitamin D are exerted via vitamin D receptor (VDR) and its genetic alterations could influence its functions.
