Essentials The role of increased factor VIII in cirrhosis-induced hypercoagulability has never been demonstrated. Factor VIII and protein C effects were characterized by thrombin generation with thrombomodulin. Factor VIII elevation plays a significant role in cirrhosis-induced plasma hypercoagulability.
