Although its powerful impact on most co-morbidities has been widely demonstrated, the metabolic outcomes of bariatric surgery (BS) show a great heterogeneity among patients. Haplotypes of one of the major antioxidant enzyme, catalase (CAT), are associated with hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes.
