Hereditary elliptocytosis is an inherited red blood cell membrane disorder characterized by typical peripheral blood smear findings of elliptocytes or rod-like red blood cells. Hemoglobin H disease is a form of α-thalassemia disease resulting in mild to moderate hemolytic anemia.
