We have read the excellent paper by Haslam and Langabeer (2014).The authors reported no CALR mutations in a large cohort of 144 patients who presented splanchnic vein thrombosis (SVT). These findings are in agreement with published data concerning the lower risk of thrombosis in patients with CALR mutations compared to JAK2 V617F+ (Rotunno et al, 2014; Rumi et al, 2014).
