BACKGROUND: Diamond-Blackfan anemia (DBA) is a class of human diseases linked to defective ribosome biogenesis that results in clinical phenotypes. Genetic mutations in ribosome protein (RP) genes lead to DBA phenotypes, including hematopoietic defects and physical deformities.
