The enzyme CPI (cyclopropylsterol-cycloisomerase) from the plant sterol pathway catalyses the cleavage of the 9β,19-cyclopropane ring of the 4α-methyl-cyclopropylsterol cycloeucalenol to produce the Δ8-sterol obtusifoliol.
