INTRODUCTION: Several HCV polymerase inhibitors are in advanced stages of clinical development. They are nucleos(t)ide and non-nucleoside analogs. Nucleos(t)ides inhibit viral replication acting as chain terminators whereas non-nucleosides block allosterically the HCV polymerase.
