The CO-responsive transcriptional regulator RcoM from Burkholderia xenovorans (BxRcoM) was recently identified as a Cys(thiolate)-ligated heme protein that undergoes a redox-mediated ligand switch; however, the Cys bound to the Fe(III) heme was not identified.
