BACKGROUND: Delayed hypersensitivity (HS) reactions to potentiated sulfonamide antimicrobials occur in both dogs and humans, and involve an intermediate hydroxylamine metabolite that is detoxified by cytochrome b(5) and NADH cytochrome b(5) reductase.
