We have isolated a Salmonella typhimurium (ST) mutant, JKS400, deficient in the production of a surface-exposed outer membrane protein (Omp) and phenotypically hypersensitive to the oxidative antimicrobial mechanism of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs).
