The arsenical resistance (ars) operon of the conjugative plasmid R773 encodes an ATP-driven anion extrusion pump, conferring bacterial resistance to arsenicals. The operon contains a regulatory gene, arsR, and three structural genes, arsA, arsB, and arsC.
