Cullin proteins are scaffolds for the assembly of multisubunit ubiquitin ligases, which ubiquitylate a large number of proteins involved in widely varying cellular functions. Multiple mechanisms cooperate to regulate cullin activity, including neddylation of their C-terminal domain.
