Bovine factor H was found to be polymorphic by the combined techniques of SDS-polyacrylamide electrophoresis of bovine plasma and immunoblotting. Three phenotypes (S, SF, F) were identified in a sample population of 149 cattle. Variant S and F differed by an apparent molecular weight of 5000 daltons.
