Serial isolates of Staphylococcus aureus showing two- to eightfold increases in teicoplanin minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) and twofold or less increases in MICs of other glycopeptides were recovered from the blood of a patient with endocarditis in whom drug therapy was unsuccessful.
