The temperature-sensitive missense suppressor supH and amber suppressor supP in Escherichia coli are mutations of the serU and leuX genes, respectively. The supH tRNA, tRNA(SerCAA), is expected to recognize UUG codons, which are normally read by tRNA(LeuCAA) and tRNA(LeuUAA), coded for by the leuX gene and the leuZ gene, respectively.
