PURPOSE: Recent studies have identified 2 distinct genetic variants along chromosome 17, including allele T of single nucleotide polymorphism rs4430796 on 17q12 and allele G of single nucleotide polymorphism rs1859962 on 17q24, that have been linked to prostate cancer risk.
