Thirty-one aminocoumarin antibiotics derived from mutasynthesis experiments were investigated for their biological activities. Their inhibitory activities toward Escherichia coli DNA gyrase were determined in two different in vitro assays: an ATPase assay and a DNA supercoiling assay.
