Mammalian circadian rhythms of activity are generated within the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN). Transcripts from the imprinted, paternally expressed Magel2 gene, which maps to the chromosomal region associated with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS), are highly enriched in the SCN.
