Cystic fibrosis (CF) is caused by mutations in the gene encoding the cystic fibrosis conductance transmembrane regulator (CFTR). Symptoms are pancreatic insufficiency, chronic obstructive lung disease, liver disease, chronic sinusitis and infertility in male patients.
