In order to investigate the early cellular changes in liver associated with furan cholangiocarcinogenesis, young adult male Fischer 344 rats were administered furan by gavage once a day, 5 days a wk for 2 to 3 wk at doses ranging from 15 to 60 mg/kg of body weight per day.
