Primary erythermalgia is a rare autosomal dominant inherited disorder characterized by recurrent attacks of red, warm and painful burning extremities. The gene involved in primary erythermalgia, SCN9A, encodes for a voltage dependent sodium channel alpha subunit (NaV1.7).
