Ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T) is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by progressive ataxia, elevated cancer incidence, and premature aging. A-T cells, Atm-deficient mice, and individuals with A-T show increased oxidant sensitivity, genomic instability, altered IGF-1 and p53 signaling, and rapid telomere shortening compared to normal controls.
