Multiple endocrine neoplasia, type I (MEN1) is an inherited cancer syndrome characterized by tumors arising primarily in endocrine tissues. The responsible gene acts as a tumor suppressor, and tumors in affected heterozygous individuals occur after inactivation of the wild-type allele.
