PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Apolipoprotein (apo) A-II is the second most abundant HDL apolipoprotein; however its function remains largely unknown. Owing to the lack of consequences of apoA-II deficiency in humans, it has long been considered an apolipoprotein of minor importance.
