PURPOSE: Dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase is a critical enzyme in the catabolism of 5-Fluorouracil, a drug frequently used in cancer therapy. Patients with deficient dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase activity are at risk of developing severe 5-Fluorouracil-associated toxicity.
