Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) has been shown to reduce endothelial nitric-oxide synthase (eNOS) gene expression through post-transcriptional regulation of mRNA stability. The current study documented an independent effect of the cytokine on the eNOS gene promoter.
