The Drosophila learning mutant rutabaga is defective in short-term memory and has a reduced intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) concentration. The delayed-rectifier potassium current (IKDR) was measured from cultured (2 days) wild-type and rutabaga neurons.
