We previously reported the isolation of the yeast suppressor gene for flocculation, SFL2 (TUP1). SFL2 gene disruption results in pleiotropic phenotypes; the sfl2 null mutation also causes a morphological change similar to shmoo in both the MAT alpha and MATa/alpha cells.
