Open reading frame 73 (ORF 73) is conserved among the gamma-2-herpesviruses (rhadinoviruses) and, in Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) and herpesvirus saimiri (HVS), has been shown to encode a latency-associated nuclear antigen (LANA).
