Dendritic cells (DCs) function as antigen presenting cells in vivo and play a fundamental role in numerous diseases. New methods are described for high-efficiency intracellular labeling of DCs with superparamagnetic iron-oxide (SPIO) utilizing a receptor-mediated endocytosis (RME) mechanism.
