A 173-bp fragment of the small extra-chromosomal double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) element of Cryptosporidium parvum was generated by reverse transcriptase PCR from nucleic acid extracted from whole faeces of 18 epidemiologically unrelated cases of cryptosporidiosis.
