Certain triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRLs), specifically chylomicrons, dyslipemic VLDLs, and their remnants, are atherogenic and can induce monocyte-macrophage foam cell formation in vitro via the apolipoprotein B-48 receptor (apoB-48R).
