The immunoglobulin (Ig) plasma levels are known to be, at least partially, genetically regulated, but all the genes involved are not known. Interleukin-1 (IL-1) is a potent proinflammatory cytokine able to serve as an adjuvant for immune responses. IL-1alpha gene is polymorphic, and at least one of the polymorphisms has been identified in the 5' regulatory region of the promoter, a biallelic base exchange (C-->T)...
