Anticancer activity of cisplatin (cis-diamminedichloroplatinum) is believed to result from its interaction with DNA. The drug reacts with nucleophilic sites in DNA forming monoadducts as well as intra- and interstrand crosslinks. DNA-cisplatin adducts are specifically recognized by several proteins.
