Maintenance of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) latent infection depends on the viral episomes in the nucleus being distributed to daughter cells following cell division. The latency-associated nuclear antigen (LANA) is constitutively expressed in all KSHV-infected cells.
