Porphyromonas gingivalis is an anaerobic, asaccharolytic Gram-negative rod associated with chronic periodontitis. We have undertaken a proteomic study of the outer membrane of P. gingivalis strain W50 using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and peptide mass fingerprinting.
