Infection by Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) is central to the pathogenesis of the endothelial neoplasm Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) and is also linked to the rare B-cell tumor known as primary effusion lymphoma (PEL).
