Granzyme B (graB) plays a pivotal role in cytotoxic lymphocyte granule-mediated apoptosis through cleavage of intracellular proteins in target cells. Proteinase inhibitor-9 (PI-9) is a potent inhibitor of graB and is highly expressed in cytotoxic lymphocytes.
