Open reading frame 71 (ORF 71) of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) encodes a death effector domain-containing protein that is homologous to cellular FLIPs (FLICE-inhibitory proteins) and is proposed to inhibit Fas-mediated apoptosis.
