The deletion of the TOM1 gene encoding a putative ubiquitin ligase causes a temperature sensitive cellular growth in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The arrested cells exhibit pleiotropic defects in nuclear division, maintenance of nuclear structure and heat stress responses.
