The glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are widely expressed in mammalian tissues and involved in Phase II detoxification reactions. The GSTs form a supergene family consisting of four distinct families, named alpha (GSTA), mu (GSTM) theta (GSTT) and pi (GSTP).
