The data herein demonstrate that in addition to the well-characterized myelin marker-positive, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)-negative, membrane sheet-bearing oligodendrocytes, another type of myelin marker-positive, process-bearing glia exists in normal and pathologic conditions.
