Aminopeptidase I (API) is imported into the yeast vacuole/lysosome by a constitutive non-classical vesicular transport mechanism, the cytoplasm to vacuole targeting (Cvt) pathway. Newly synthesized precursor API is sequestered in double-membrane cytoplasmic Cvt vesicles.
